New milestone for SUSPENS: First rCF staple yarn delivered!

The SUSPENS project has reached a key milestone with the production of the first staple yarn made from recycled carbon fibres (rCF), in collaboration with the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) at TU Dresden.

First rCF staple yarn delivered!

We reviewed the advancements made so far, celebrating key milestones and refining our strategy for the coming months.

This yarn, derived from aerospace production waste, was achieved thanks to an equipment upgrade enabling over 90% carbon content. A first bobbin has been successfully delivered to IRT Jules Verne, who will use it to manufacture a preform for one of the project’s three demonstrator parts.

A visit to the ITM facilities by Céline Couquet Largeau and Mehdi Marin marked this important step.

Special thanks to Dr.-Ing. M. M. Badrul Hasan, Dr. Anwar Abdkader, and Prof. Chokri Cherif for their contributions!
